Richard Knott has been an actor (with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Youth Theatre), a teacher and management consultant. He now lives near Bristol, the city where he grew up. Previous homes included the Spanish Basque country and Yorkshire where he lived for nearly 25 years. His move back to the West Country was because he could no longer resist the lure of his precious football team, Bristol Rovers FC.
Richard’s most recent book is ‘The Trio’ (The History Press, 2015), about three famous war correspondents of World War 2 – Alan Moorehead, Christopher Buckley and Alexander Clifford. Other books include ‘The Sketchbook War’ (The History Press); Black Night for Bomber Command (Pen and Sword); and ‘Flying Boats of the Empire’ (Robert Hale). ‘Posted in Wartime’ will be published by Pen & Sword in March 2017.  His books are meticulously researched, as well as savouring character, location and narrative, legacies of his earlier novel-writing ambition.  He is also working on a new book set in the twenty years between 1936 and 1956, as well as a novel.
